PRELUDE In late 2002, the President of the United States along with the House and Senate approved funding for the Global Freedom Initiative (GFI) as part of Homeland Security’s funding. The GFI focuses upon Intelligence Gathering, Advanced Communication and Advanced Deployment Technologies. The GFI also covertly provides funding for a special initiative called Terrorist Elimination and Mitigation, or TEAM. TEAM is a collection of beings with a sense of unwavering patriotism and abilities beyond that of any normal human. TEAM’s first mission was to apprehend two notorious gang leaders whose activities had been tied to terrorist organizations outside of the US. TEAM successfully apprehended Rocco, leader of “The Thugs,” and King Skull, leader of “The Skulls.” Their victory was short lived, however, for on the morning of January 18, 2003, a nuclear device was discovered in the center of downtown Megopolous. TEAM both discovered and cracked the nuclear device’s deactivation sequence in record time. Unfortunately, Dolby in his zeal to disarm the bomb, misentered the code and detonated the device destroying all of Megopolous and the attending members of TEAM. No one ever claimed responsibility for the bomb. In the aftermath, Provost Marshal Graham had his work cut out for him.
